Shaded by tropical beach trees, or the roof of the outlet, a draft from the sea blows up cooling us on even this hottest of days. During daylight hours the ambience is casual, but as the sun begins to descend the air turns romantic aided by the golden sunset and soft lighting of the restaurant.
These tables by the beach are well paired with the healthful Mediterranean cuisine dominating the menu. Pizza, pasta, seafood and creative platters of traditional Malaysian dishes, make great midday meals, or combined in a number of courses, a filling dinner.
A bit of bubbly is always a fitting beachside beverage and Veuve Clicquot Brut hits the spot. Effervescent, fruity in the mouth and a crisp finish, it’s great anytime drinking but performs agreeably too with our light lunch fare.

| Seaside Bubbly |
An Antipasti Platter, which can easily be made vegetarian or not (with the addition of cold cuts) warms us up for the rest of the meal. Roasted red capsicum, garlic, cherry tomatoes, eggplant, asparagus, yellow zucchini, straw mushrooms, and basil form on an arc around the edge of the plate. A wide brush stroke of balsamic paints a base for the vegetables. They’re all drizzled with quality extra virgin olive oil and bestrewn with black pepper. Small blobs of marmalade jelly add a touch of sweetness. It’s smooth and tasty - a lovely entrance.

| Antipasti |
Grilled Chicken Breast with Rosemary Gravy is hubby’s main. Sliced tender poultry is fanned across a roll of slim string pasta infused with truffle. A cluster of fresh salad corners the plate, while a stripe of balsamic sides it sprinkled with pink peppercorns and fresh herbs. The chicken is mild in flavour but both the sauce and pepper give it just the right boost.

| Chicken Breast with Rosemary Sauce |
I ask for a vegetarian dish and a generous muddle of al dente pasta is what arrives. A rich tomato sauce thickly coats the spaghetti and is packed with black olives, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, asparagus and caramelized onions. Parmesan is offered, but not needed, as the sauce is a wonderful mouth-filling model of savour.

| Vegetarian Pasta |
We close the meal with a Blueberry Cheesecake, which arrives on a long rectangular platter. The sweet centres the dish, a red berry sauce splashes the top, and a plump ripe strawberry, spring of mint and ball of rockmelon adorn the side. A gentle tinge of purple infuses the soft dense cheesecake. It’s a simple but delicious conclusion.
